![]() ![]() For more on Hollow Knight, read why we named the first game one of the best of the last generation. For more on what's coming to Xbox consoles, be sure to check out our new Xbox Series X games list. That's everything we know about Hollow Knight Silksong so far. No update has since been given on a new release date. In a Tweet, Team Cherry's Marketing Director announced that the game will no longer hit its release window of the 'first half of 2023'. Hollow Knight Silksong delayed out of 'first half of 2023' We'll have to wait and see just how many new bells and whistles are included this time around, but, for now, the action is looking like more Hollow Knight - which is certainly not a bad thing. Generally, if you played Hollow Knight, it seems as though you'll be right at home with the gameplay in Silksong. Boss fights look to be a big part of Silksong, with the gameplay trailer released last year having shown off a couple of the main foes we'll be taking on. It's a Metroidvania game once again, meaning that certain areas are locked behind ability upgrades, with lots of backtracking involved. You'll explore different zones, slowly unlocking the map. So far, we've yet to see too much gameplay for Silksong, but what's been shown looks to be a continuation of the platforming/boss fighting of its predecessor. Once again, players will be able to find new abilities as they progress, giving them options for customizing Hornet. She is much more agile, able to dart and grapple around the world, with her needle weapon in hand. You can expect it on Steam, GOG, and The Humble Store, too.Players will play as Hornet in Hollow Knight Silksong, who is a pretty stark contrast when compared to the Knight from the first game. Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch on Game Pass when it’s ready, on PC and consoles. Apart from that, Team Cherry have revealed four new characters after stringing the community through a series of fun riddles. Team Cherry announced the delay in May 2023, but we expect to see it in late 2023 or early 2024 as development continues. Silksong follows former boss Hornet through a new kingdom, using new weapons, and flipping around with new acrobatic abilities. Hollow Knight Silksong will no longer release in the first half of 2023. Either way, Team Cherry is a small team and I’m happy they have the leeway to keep making the game “big” or “large” or whatever they want. Discover a vast, haunted kingdom in Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to the award-winning action-adventure. Or maybe I’m one of those overly hopeful Hollowheads that Imogen (RPS in peace) wrote about many moons ago. System: Nintendo Switch Release date: TBD. Maybe the sequel will make a reappearance then. Hollow Knight: Silksong’s last appearance was at that aforementioned Xbox Games Showcase, and we’re getting another not-E3 show from Microsoft next month. Team Cherry first announced the Hollow Knight follow-up in 2019, where they said the project began development as DLC, but soon became “too large and too unique,” and ballooned into a full-fledged sequel. This isn’t the first time Silksong’s “big” size has affected release plans. “We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.” Griffin continued to say, “Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.” “We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing,” said Team Cherry’s marketing representative Matthew Griffin on Twitter. Developer Team Cherry have now shared that Silksong likely won’t hit that “1st half of 2023” mark as the bug-squashing adventure has “gotten quite big”. Last summer’s Xbox Games Showcase stated that every featured game would release in the following twelve months, which included the much-anticipated metroidvania sequel Hollow Knight: Silksong.
